A former Benskins pub that was made into a house after being saved by the community is now on the market.
The North Star, located at Harrow on the Hill, was formerly one of the Watford-owned Benskins pubs that dated back to the late 1800s.
The deeds state that in World War II, the government used the property as a doctor’s surgery.
When it closed its doors in 1957, the pub was put up for demolition, but the Harrow community petitioned against it and the North Star was saved and since been made into a private home.
The current owners have lived at the historical house for over 30 years and fully renovated the property, but now the house has been placed on the market for a week.
The former North Star pub offers a four-bedroom detached property, with a mix of modern and traditional aesthetics following the renovation.
Despite some of the modern twists implemented at the property, it still retains character 2i5h oak parquet flooring, the original imposing fireplace, French 1920’s lighting and a copper North Star branding the front of the property which emulates the original star that was removed in the 60s.
It also features high ceilings with large timber frame windows, the original pub entrance doors and other historical elements.
Homeowners seeking a new property can also make use of the large modern kitchen, a bar-dining area, a living area, a formal sitting room and a cloakroom.
Outside there is a private courtyard accessible from the sitting room, while it also features a garage and driveway with one allocated space and one visitor space.
Currently Nest Seekers has the pub listed for £1,300,000.
