WHAT a way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
In a nice bustling little pub, full of regulars and passers-by creating a good atmosphere.
You can't really go wrong at The Windmill. The barstaff, who I assumed to be owners Dawn and Dave, were friendly and certainly know how to treat their regulars.
How do I know? Well, bowls of roast potatoes laid out on the bar for the punters to tuck into gave the game away.
What a fantastic idea. Every pub should have one.
There were quite a few diners eating there and at £7 for a Sunday roast, I'm sure they were getting value for money.
After parting with £3.40 for a pint and a half of Carlsberg, I went to sit outside in the large beer garden, which proved a pleasant enough environment until the weather returned to normal and started raining.
So back inside it was, and by now Dave had put Frank Sinatra on the stereo. Pure class.
I can't really find any fault with the Windmill. It's a clean, cosy place, with smoking and non-smoking areas, plenty of humourous posters and signs adorning the walls, and roast potatoes on the bar sorry, have I mentioned that already?
Absolutely brilliant, I will be returning.
