A genius Syrian refugee who came to the UK at the age of 12 without a word of English received glowing A-level results.
Yosuf Ali, who attended Hatch End High School, achieved three A grades in maths, chemistry and biology.
The boy came to the UK as a refugee and joined the school, where he began to come to grips with the language and curriculum.
The school said his “hard work, determination, tenacity and commitment” meant he was able to reach the outstanding results.
Now he will be going on to study medicine at the University of Southampton, which is in the Russell Group of top universities.
In the future he hopes to return to his homeland to work, specialising in cardiology.
