TWO houses were completely destroyed in the gas explosion which claimed a man's life last night.
The explosion happened in Stanley Road, South Harrow, just after 9.30pm, and local residents were evacuated from their homes while firefighters searched the properties.
A 26-year-old man was taken to hospital suffering from head injuries, and a 17-year-old girl was also hospitalised suffering from 20 per cent burns.
Northolt Road, which was closed overnight while the properties were made safe, has now been reopened to traffic. However, several other local roads remain closed.
Neighbours are still yet to return to their homes while rescue workers use specialist listening equipment to ensure no-one else is trapped in the rubble.
More soon.
