The Pinner Arms reopens as The Whittington after makeover

The Whittington pub, formerly known as the Pinner Arms on Whittington Way, has reopened on Friday (December 2) with a new look.

Its rebranded name is a callback to its original title from the 1930s.

A new sports zone has been created at the pub, with TV screens, pool tables and a dart board.

Other new areas including a dining section which will offer a brand-new flaming grill menu.

The pub’s outdoor has been transformed, with a link to the sports zone, and two large outdoor TV screens.

A new dining area has been created at the front of the pub, with new furniture and outdoor heating.

Inside, the pub has been completely redecorated with a major makeover and new furniture.

As part of the investment from The Greene King, the Whittington’s team has increased from 10 to 30 members of staff.

Paul Dupree, a pub regular of 40 years, attended the opening night to mark the ceremony.

He provided an original photo of family friend Alfred Dann, who played as a drummer in the pub’s resident band in the 1930s.

The photo has now been framed and showcased at the pub.

Holly Slater, general manager of the Whittington, said: “We’re so excited to finally reopen and give a big warm welcome back to our regulars as we show them the amazing changes that have happened over the past six weeks.

"We know our new sports areas are going to be popular, and thanks to the new covered and heated seating, fans will be able to enjoy matches in all weather. 

“We’re also delighted to be reopening as The Whittington. Locals still call it by its original name and to mark this we have renamed the sports bar 'The Whitt', which we think is the perfect way to thank all our regulars who have supported us over the years.”
