Former Harrow council leader Susan Hall has been chosen to be the Conservative candidate for London Mayor.
Ms Hall, who has lived in Hatch End for over 38 years, will go up against the current Labour mayor, Sadiq Khan, when the next election is held in May 2024.
The London Assembly member promised to scrap plans to expand the ULEZ (ultra-low emission zone) on her first day if elected.
She defeated opponent Mozammel Hossain with 57% of the vote from London Tory members.
Ms Hall said Mr Khan, who she will face in the election on May 4 next year, has made no significant achievements during his time as mayor and has no “interest in loving others”.
“He (Sadiq Khan) goes on trips while young people get stabbed on our streets,” she said.
“He’s more interested in selling his book than he is helping Londoners with the cost of living.
“When things go wrong, he hires an army of spin doctors to convince you it’s actually not his fault.
“I’ll do whatever it takes to win.”
It is a huge honour to be the Conservative candidate for Mayor of London, I’m so grateful to everyone for their support. Thanks to @MozForMayor for his positive and hard fought campaign. I will work tirelessly to defeat Sadiq Khan and offer Londoners the change we need. pic.twitter.com/Vj5bn7wQXB

She added that in the next 10 months she will expose Mr Khan for “who he truly is”.
Describing herself as a “Londoner through and through”, Ms Hall started her professional life working in her father’s garage, where she had been taught how to strip down car engines.
After marrying a hairdresser, Ms Hall opened a salon with him, employing up to 20 people at one stage.
In 2006, she was elected as a Harrow borough councillor, and has represented Hatch End on the authority ever since. For a period in 2013-14, she was the council’s leader.
In 2017, she joined the London Assembly and from 2019 until earlier this year, she was the leader of the Assembly’s Conservative group.
Neil Garratt AM, the City Hall Conservatives Leader, said: "Congratulations to my colleague Susan Hall on becoming Conservative candidate for Mayor of London!
“Susan has been holding the mayor to account for many years and is the absolute right person to take on this challenge.
“I’m looking forward to continuing working with her as she puts forward her vision for London."
