RHYTHMS of the City played the first big set of the afternoon, with music straight from the streets of Brazil.
Starting the carnival atmosphere, the band made of guitar, brass, drums, and an array of percussion wowed the growing crowd with traditional samba and latin covers of popular songs.
They are followed by the parade, which has just begun, snaking its way round the Kodak site, in Harrow View.
Many local schools and groups are taking part in the colourful parade, with giant dragons, drummers, bagpipes, and much more making its way through the crowd.
The sun is still out at Under One Sky, although the rain could be on its way.
