Staff at a much-loved pub are celebrating after being named has been listed as one of the best in Britain.
The Woodman, in Breakspear Road, Ruislip, won the ‘Stonegate Group Pub Partners Pub of the Year’ in the Great British Pub Awards.
It was listed as a finalist alongside its sister watering hole, also called The Woodman, which is just a short walk away in Joel Street, Pinner.
Licensee Steve Banks has worked at the pub for eight years and transformed the traditional pub into what is described as a ‘bustling community hub’.
Over the years Mr Banks has formed a strong rapport with punters and Stonegate said he “does all he can” to support individuals and create “lovely relationships with regular customers”.
The Woodman recently held its annual charity event ‘The Woodfest All Dayer’, which welcomed 400 people to enjoy a DJ, live singers and a food stall, with money going to the Michael Sobel Hospice.
Mr Banks said: “I am over the moon to have recently picked up the Great British Pub Award and am so delighted for my wonderful pub to have gained recognition from Stonegate Group at this prestigious award and at the internal awards.
“My amazing team and I do all we can to make a welcoming space for everyone in the local community and it means so much that our hard work has been rewarded, I am forever proud of my team for their work and efforts.
“Our customers are always supporting us we are ever so grateful and hope to be able to support you all.”
