Shivana Anand has been crowned ‘Young Dentist of the Year’ in the South East even though she’s “not perfect”.
To add to the prestige is that her Moor Care dental practice in Northwood has also been named ‘Referral Practice of the Year’ at the national Private Dentistry awards.
Shivana has seen “ups and downs” in her career, but has managed to get back on the dental track to win the prestigious title.
“My dental journey has included lots of ups, downs, highs and lows,” she admits. “I am a realist and know that I’m not perfect, but do believe in genuinely trying.
“My journey is just beginning. The goal is to keep making sure I do the best for patients. I have a fantastic mentor, team and support around me.”
The dental centre in Main Avenue, Moor Park, also took a second award as “Referral Practice of the Year”.
Its leading dentist Dr Joe Bhat said was awash with joy after two decades in dentistry.
“It’s gratifying to be acknowledged after 22 years as a referral clinic,’’ he said. “Receiving the title requires dedication and commitment from every team member.’’
The referral clinic, part of the Portman-Dentex group, has eight different specialties who have been managing simple to complex restorative and dental implant cases since 2002.
Its UK chief executive Julie Ross praised Shivana Anand for her ‘Young Dentist’ title. She said: “Shivana is an excellent dentist and her award recognises dedication to her profession and her patients. She will forge a stellar career in dentistry.”
The centre specialises in dental implants, oral rehabilitation, root canal treatment, gum treatment, orthodontics, paediatric dentistry and oral and maxillofacial surgery. It is currently accepting referrals from 350 dental practices up and down the country and from abroad.
The awards held at The Grosvenor House Hotel in the West End last month are an annual recognition for the industry that highlights “excellence in dentistry” across the UK.
