A busy central London train station has been closed, with a major police presence at the scene.
Trains at Russell Square station have stopped since 3.20pm today (June 28) as police respond to a “security alert”.
Pictures obtained by the Newsquest London show multiple police cordons in place near the station.
One user on X (formerly known as Twitter) claimed that shops at Brunswick Centre have also been evacuated.
They added: “Large police, fire and ambulance presence at Brunswick Centre.
“We are still open but many shops have been evacuated.”
The nature of the incident is unknown.
We have contacted Metropolitan Police, London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade for further information.
