A person has died after being hit by a train at a busy station in central London.

The incident happened at Bank Tube station just before 12.10pm yesterday (July 21).

An ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car, an incident response officer, and members of the Hazardous Area Response Team from the London Ambulance Service attended.

The person was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after.

The Northern Line and the Docklands Light Railway were partially suspended as the incident was dealt with.

All services have since returned to normal.

A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 12.07pm on (July 21) to reports of a person hit by a train at Bank Tube station, Central London.

"We sent a number of resources to the scene including an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car, an incident response officer and members of our Hazardous Area Response Team.

“We also dispatched London's Air Ambulance. Sadly, a person died at the scene."
