A former Harrow councillor has slammed the state of streets in the borough.
Husain Akhtar, who was a councillor for seven years, said that the "neglect" of streets in Marlborough ward and across the borough was “unacceptable”.
He felt that overgrown patches created a “depressive view” and urged Harrow Council to take immediate action.
Husain, who is now the coordinator at Harrow Monitoring Group, said: “[There is an] obvious need to clean up Harrow streets fast.
“This neglect is totally unacceptable in a borough that claims it is putting residents first.
“I had hoped that the council tax increases would provide good value for money, and that the streets in all parts of the borough would give the feel of belonging to Harrow.”
Photos provided by Husain showed multiple streets in the borough, including Wellesley Road, with uneven pavements that are overgrown with weeds.
A spokesperson for Harrow Council said: “We know how important clean streets are for our residents.
“It’s why this year we made it a priority to create a neighbourhood taskforce who know their local area and address issues reported quickly and efficiently.
“To help us act on issues quickly, we encourage residents to report these online.”
