FANCY a change from the norm? I mean a real change? Well, how about going racing in a modified single seater Second World War plane at over 300mph with a few other "normal" folk.
Installation was straight forward with no issues whatsoever.
Afterwards, just select your graphics mode, either OpenGL or Glide and a resolution upto 1280 by 1024.
Into the game and it's fun, fun, fun.
Races start in the air so you have no need to learn how to take off and land.
You can choose between taking part in a single race, a full race season or free flight.
Single race offers you a choice of courses to practise on.
You can go through qualification or just jump straight into a race.
Race season starts you out with bronze races, progressing to silver and gold, with various new aircraft added to your list on the way to the top.
Free flight gives you the option to fly any aircraft on any track, even experimental aircraft.
Next comes your choice of aircraft, for those intent on racing, with a wide range of Second World War "birds" to jump in.
Setting up your aircraft requires some skill, even with detailed help from the excellent, exhaustive manual included with the game.
Choices of engine, propeller, wingspan and fluid capacities make vast differences to your aircraft.
Some good, some not.
Oops, in the drink again.
Once into the racing, the game takes on a whole new dimension.
With air hoops and pylon lasers to guide you around the tracks you can concentrate more on flying then figuring out where you are supposed to be heading.
Turn them off and, well, God help you.
Control is quite easy with a flight stick, but you do need a four axis controller to stand any real chance of victory.
Trying to glide around course markers without control of the rudder would be very difficult indeed.
The graphics within the game are tremendous and a real credit to the developers.
They have put every last ounce into this game to give you a real feeling for flying, from the ground losing focus as it approaches you to the stunning shots as you race yards from another aircraft trying to control your bird in their slipstream, something I have never know in any other aerial simulator.
Just a final note.
The manual includes options to create your own tracks and add your own music to the game.
The possibilities are never ending.
It's an absolute must-have for gamers or simulator fans alike.
Overall: 4.5/5
