A GREEN politician has declared the victory of a two year campaign to stop ASDA delivery lorries blocking a pavement in Wembley.
For months the vehicles parked outside the Forty Lane branch, while waiting to get into the site to drop off goods, forcing residents to walk in the often busy road to get past.
But the supermarket has now moved its gates back, creating space for the lorries to queue out of the way of the pedestrians and Shahrar Ali, of the Brent Green Party, says the problem has now been solved.
He said: “The work was completed late last night. It now means that any lorry which parks up right against the gates will not be blocking the pedestrian crossing.
“It's been a long time coming and it was just a case of not taking no for an answer. It was just an accident waiting to happen.”
