AN anti-Islam group has announced the date it will try again to protest outside Harrow Central Mosque.
Stop the Islamisation of Europe (SIOE), a fiercely anti-Muslim organisation, is planning to gather its members outside the Station Road mosque on Sunday, December 13, between 2pm and 4pm.
Stephen Gash, leader of the group, had previously claimed he would only organise a protest if 2,000 people pledged to turn up, and announced the date on the SIOE website on Tuesday.
A previous attempt to protest was dramatically thwarted on September 11, when Mr Gash was arrested, and around 15 SIOE members were chased out of Wealdstone by hoards of predominantly Asian men.
Around 1,000 people had turned out that day under the banner of defending the mosque, at a counter protest organised by Unite Against Fascism (UAF).
However, when the SIOE protest failed to materialise, counter-protesters started to run rampage on the streets of Wealdstone, clashing violently with riot police.
The threat of a second SIOE protest has already been met by a forceful response from UAF leaders, who have urged the Home Office to step in.
They claim SIOE is closely associated with far right-wing groups, a claim Mr Gash fiercely denies, and police should place a ban on the protest taking place.
