A “DANGEROUS” Hanwell man has been jailed for 16 years for trying to stab his friend to death in Wembley.
The attack by Khalid Ali, 37, stemmed from a row with the man who had been drinking with his girlfriend and Ali in Blackbird Court, off Birchen Grove, on April 7.
The couple stormed out but as they sat in their car outside, Ali, of Copley Close, emerged brandishing a kitchen knife.
He reached through the car window and stabbed the man four times, leaving him with life threatening injuries.
The man was rushed to hospital for emergency surgery to a collapsed lung, and doctors managed to save his life.
Following the stabbing, Ali went on the run for almost four months before handing himself in to police in June.
He stood trial at the Old Bailey starting on November 2, and was found guilty of one charge of attempted murder.
He was sentenced to 16 years in jail on December 9.
Detective Constable Stuart Outred, who led the investigation, said: “We are pleased that a dangerous young man has received a sentence proportionate to his actions.”
