A LEADING Brent councillor has congratulated staff who worked through the night to keep the raods clear of snow.

Councillor Daniel Brown, who is in charge of transport in Brent, hailed the work of the council's Streetcare team who dumped tonnes of grit on the roads last night and this morning.

He said: “Despite the heavy snowfall, people were still able to get about and buses were still running.

"This is a tribute to the hard work of the council's Streetcare team who help to make Brent cleaner greener and safer.”

Buses routes through the borough have not been affected by last night's snowfall, and rubbish collections have gone ahead as usual.

Just one school in Brent, Alperton Community School, has been forced to shut today due to the adverse weather conditions, and all the rest are open as normal.
