A KINGSBURY cafe has become the first premises in Brent to be hit with a fine for breaking the smoking ban.
VIP Treats, which is on the corner of Berkeley Road and Kingsbury Road, has been handed a £50 fine after a staff member was caught smoking a shisha pipe indoors.
The fixed penalty notice is the first handed out by Brent Council officers since the smoking ban came into effect in July 2007.
VIP Treats staff had been warned about smoking inside previously, and the fine was issued on December 11 when officers discovered the law was still being breached.
