AN American country singer has made a song for escaped convict Craig “Lazie” Lynch.

Kent Crawford uploaded his ballad to the former Edgware resident on video sharing website YouTube, where it has been viewed 352 times and rated four-and-a-half stars by ten people.

Lynch was handed a seven year jail term for aggravated burglary and was months away from being released when he went on the run from Hollesley Bay Open Prison, in Suffolk.

Since then he has been taunting police with updates on social networking website Facebook, including a festive entry on December 25 which boasted “wow it really is xmas, ha ha. I can't believe I made it”.

Other posts said “I'm still here...but of course you know that cos the old bill couldn't catch themselves a cold” and “they should of listened to me when i said not guilty. Now who looks silly”.

His fan page now has close to 20,000 members and news stories on him have been published around the world.

Mr Crawford's song, titled Crazy Craig Lazy Lynch, carries the chorus: “Crazy Craig Lazy Lynch, Busted out of prison like it was a sin, The English bounty police are hot on your trails, Can they catch you only time can tell”.

Anne-Marie Breach, a spokesman for Suffolk Police, said an inquiry into Lynch's whereabouts was ongoing and appealed for help from anyone who knows his location.
