FRESH footage of a pensioner murdered in Queensbury has been released in a renewed bid to catch her killer.
Police investigating the murder of Molly Morgan will be at the scene in Streatfield Road this morning where the 81-year-old was viciously mugged and dragged to the ground, suffering fatal head injuries.
Detective Chief Inspector Jessica Wadsworth, who is leading the investigation, today called for “justice for Molly”, and urged anyone with information to get in touch.
A £20,000 reward has already been put up for information leading to a conviction, and CCTV footage of the widow on the day she was killed, Thursday, January 15 last year, shopping in Morrisons, in Honeypot Lane, has been released to try to jog people's memories.
DCI Wadsworth said: “I am convinced there are people out there who know the identity of the murderers.
"It is evident from the images released today that Mrs Morgan was an extremely vulnerable, defenceless lady and she was attacked because of this.
“I hope this renewed appeal will prompt people to come forward who, for whatever reason, didn't come forward at the time.
“It's not too late, please come forward now - Molly deserves justice."
Mrs Morgan was on her way to a lecture on Buildings in London at Kenton Library when she was attacked, at around 7.40pm.
Her handbag, which contained just a brown and gold Primark umbrella, an empty Sainsbury's carrier bag, and an extension cord, was snatched so violently from her that she fell to the ground suffering serious injuries to the left side of her head and a broken arm.
She was taken to Northwick Park Hospital but died early the next day from a subdural haematoma.
At the time, Mrs Morgan's only daughter Hilary issue a passionate plea for help catching the “coward of a mugger” who had devastated her life and robbed her of a mother.
Police later recovered the stolen extension cable but have yet to find the handbag, which is adorned with a distinctive floral pattern.
Police will this morning be handing out leaflets in the Streatfield Road area, and have urged anyone with information to call 0208 358 0300, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
