THE 44th Harrow Show this weekend will be the best yet, the organisers have promised.
The show, the borough's biggest annual event , takes place on Sunday and bank holiday Monday (August 29 and 30), at Headstone Manor off Pinner View and Headstone Lane, North Harrow.
It will run from 10.30am to 6pm both days.
As well as the traditional stalls and sideshows, there will be a full programme of entertainment in the main arena.
Appearing this year will be the jazz band La Band a Donff, from Bordeaux, a six-piece ensemble with a brass section, electric guitar and drums, who will be performing both days; Impact Falconry, a display by some of the largest birds of prey, including eagles, hawks, owls, falcons and vultures, and the Over the Top motorbike display team, performing high jumps, fire stunts and wheelies.
In between these main attractions there will be a showcase of local musicians and dance acts, and Monday will see a performance by Flash Musicals, with music and dance from shows across the decades.
The show's entertainment officer, Keith Chilvers, said: "I've never said this before a show, but I'm convinced that this year could be the best year ever.
"A bold statement I know, but I just feel that we have got the right combination."
The show is organised entirely by a team of volunteers and is not, as many people still believe, run by Harrow Council and funded out of council tax.
Tickets to the show cost £4 (children an OAPs £2, family tickets £10) from 020 8868 6182 or on the gate.
On-street parking in the residential roads around the showground will be heavily controlled. Visitors who can not arrive on foot or by public transport, should park at the Kodak social club in Harrow View. There is no charge for this.
