HARROW Times readers have backed the Conservatives to win in the General Election in an online poll.
With almost 600 votes cast in the ballot on our website, the Tories came away with 53 per cent of the votes – a clear majority – with Labour in second with 24 per cent.
Despite a national surge in the Liberal Democrat vote, the party only registered 14 per cent in the Harrow poll, failing to overtake Labour.
The Green Party, which is standing candidates in the borough for the first time this General Election, only managed to get 1.5 per cent of the vote while “others”, including independents and UKIP got 6 per cent.
Readers have been voting in the poll for the last month while following Harrow Times coverage of the election campaign in the borough.
The pool is a good indicator for the Conservatives, who are hoping tomorrow will see Dr Rachel Joyce and Bob Blackman elected to Parliament.
However, incumbent MPs Tony McNulty and Gareth Thomas will hope to energise the Labour vote and hold on to their seats.
