LABOUR have pulled off a stunning reversal of their fortunes and seized control of Harrow Council from the Conservatives.
The party is set to come out of opposition having won 31 seats on the council ahead of the Tories on 27, with just one seat still to be announced.
The Conservatives have lost nine seats today, with high profile casualties including Jeremy Zeid, Eric Silver, and Dinesh Solanki, and the party is facing being in opposition just four years after seizing power.
The recount currently underway is for West Harrow, where the Harrow Times understands the Tories have lost two seats and the third seat is down to a handful of votes.
If West Harrow falls to Labour completely, it will spell defeat for cabinet member Anjana Patel and will mean Labour will have a majority of seven.
Labour's victory includes a complete reversal in Greenhill ward and the seizure of two of the Tories three seats on Harrow-on-the-Hill.
A final result is due to be announced within the hour, when the recount has been completed.
