A BOLLYWOOD superstar was on the streets of Wealdstone today filming his latest movie.

Crowds of people gather in the centre of the town to try to get a glimpse of Akshay Kumar, who was shooting scenes for his autumn release called Patiala House.

The film crew had taken over Harrow and Wealdstone Food and Wine at the corner of High Street and Masons Avenue for the day.

The shop had been converted to look like a convenience store in Southall, and crew had moved in with heavy-duty lights and recording equipment.

Oniaza Ahmad, 23, who works at Harrow Solicitors and Advocates two doors down, said the film crew had arrived before 5am to start shooting the scenes.

She said: “I think it's brilliant for Wealdstone, because Wealdstone never gets anything like this.

“Akshay Kumar is very famous in India, he has done quite a lot of movies and is a big star.”

The Harrow Times understands the cast and crew of the film are planning to have dinner at Masa restaurant in Wealdstone after they have finished for the day.

The film, which also stars Anushka Sharma, Dimple Kapadia, and Rishi Kapoor, is due to be released in time for Diwali this year and has been described as a family drama-comedy.

Ms Sharma was also spotted on the set today, and is starring alongside Mr Kumar in only her fourth major feature film.
