PLANS for a major redevelopment of a Harrow university campus have been approved.
The University of Westminster's proposal to demolish part of its Harrow campus and replace it with bigger buildings and a café has been given the green light by Brent Council's planning committee.
The Harrow campus, in Watford Road currently provides accommodation for the university’s School of Media, Art and Design, its School of Electronics and Computer Science and its Business School.
But the university wants to move most of the schools to central London, allowing it to focus solely on providing accommodation for the School of Media, Art and Design, which has a high academic reputation.
Council officers praised the plans in their recommendation to councillors, saying that “the council welcomes the University of Westminster’s continuing commitment to Northwick Park and the enhancements to the local environment and visual amenity that will result from the proposed improvements to the campus”.
