POLICE are hunting for new evidence in the case of a Jamaican man whose violent death left a family's lives “torn apart”.
Ferell Benjamin was dragged from a house in Overbrook Walk, Edgware, on November 14. His body was found in Kilburn the following day.
A post mortem gave the cause of death as head injuries and police believe he was murdered by kidnappers.
When the Colindale resident, of Acklington Drive, Grahame Park Estate, first went missing he was wearing a chain with a pendant and a fake Cartier watch which detectives have never found.
They today released a picture of Mr Benjamin wearing the jewellery as the investigation continues.
Carlene Wellington, Ferell's girlfriend, said: "Ferell was the greatest and there will never be another like him, he made such an impact on my life.
“Since his tragic and untimely death on the 14th November 2010 my whole life and the children's has been torn apart.
“There is an empty vacuum that cannot be filled and no words can explain just how I feel. I am still looking for reasons why this has happened, still waiting for an explanation, nothing makes sense. “How do you explain to your children that they will no longer be able to see their father to watch them grow, to play with them, to see them leave school etc.
“Do people really know the hurt, the pain this has caused not just to me but to my children, to Ferell's family and my own family and friends?”
Flowers, bottles of Guinness and cans of ginger ale were left on the doorstep of the Edgware house after Ferell's death.
Detective Inspector Julian King, of the murder squad, said: “Ferell's family and friends remain devastated by his death and our investigation into finding who is responsible continues.
“I am keen to speak to anyone who may have information regarding the circumstances around his kidnap and where he was taken before his body was found in Kilburn.
“I am also appealing for anyone who knows where Ferell's chain, pendant and watch are.
“These are distinctive items of jewellery and may be being worn by someone who has bought them in good faith. If you know where the items are please call us.”
Anyone with information is asked to call the Incident Room on 020 8785 8244 or, if they wish to remain anonymous, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
A 21-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of murder on November 16 and a 23-year-old man was arrested in connection with the death.
Both have been bailed by police.
