A PAEDOPHILE who used Kilburn library to view child pornography has been handed a two-year supervision order.
George Lee Lindo, 54, of Esmond Road, was caught red-handed by police at the library in Kilburn High Road on August 17 last year, after an eagle-eyed member of the public alerted library staff.
An investigation by Brent Counil found Lindo had also accessed illegal images on June 1 and June 26, when he went by the names of Cleveland Williams and Manny Hamadi.
After he was identified, officers were called from the police station next door to the library the next time he logged into the computer.
Cabinet member for crime prevention and public safety, councillor Lincoln Beswick, said: “We monitor the use of our computers in public buildings and if we discover people abusing the system we will use all our powers to take appropriate action.
“My congratulations to the team involved for securing a conviction in this case. The team has become a leader in the fight against computer crime and has developed specialist skills in this area.”
Lindo pleaded guilty to three separate offences of the viewing and collection of indecent images at Brent Magistrates Court on January 19.
He was sentenced to a two-year community charge and supervision order and placed on the sex offenders' register.
