I urge all computer cab users to complain to their council on the new fare rises for those with mobility problems.

It is fair enough to raise prices in these hard time, but these new prices are high and will cause hardship to vulnerable people using a cab.

The initial cost is now £2.50 instead of £1.50, the charge of mileage while travelling has increased and the distances a passenger can travel is reduced.

The meter on a cab starts running as soon as it arrives, so anyone taking time to reach their cab will find quite a sum showing to be added to the cost of their remaining journey.

Friends of mine recently had to pay £3.50 and £3.70 for two very short journeys.

To complain, write to Harrow Council Taxicard section, Civic Centre, Harrow, or send an email to: taxicard@londoncouncils.gov.uk Mrs E Lewis
