NHS Harrow insists “no decisions have been taken” on cuts after a protest outside a flagship polyclinic under review.

The organisation must strip £32m out of its budget on top of £12m already slashed and the borough's three walk-in centres are under threat.

Politicians and NHS staff held a protest outside Alexandra Avenue Health and Social Care Centre, in Rayners Lane, yesterday, just nine months after former Prime Minister Tony Blair sung its praises on an official visit.

Rahul Bhagvat, a spokesman for NHS Harrow, said the organisation is in the “initial stages” of a review of urgent care.

He said: “No decisions have been taken about any changes or recommendations that may come out of this review and there will need to be wider consultation before decisions are made.

“We held the first pre-engagement event last week with local stakeholders including local GPs, pharmacies, community group representatives, members of the public, urgent care providers and voluntary sector representatives. “At the session; the group considered real scenarios and went through how people make decisions, where to access care, what influences those decisions and tried to identify the problems that they may encounter.”
