There is a lot of confusion about the number of police officers in the capital.
The record needs to be set straight, so here are the facts: When Boris began as Mayor in 2008 there were 31,416 police officers in London.
In 2012, when Boris finishes his first term as Mayor, there will be 32,510 in the capital.
That is an increase of 1,094 full-time warranted police officers. No spin, no smoke and mirrors, just 1,094 more police officers to keep Londoners safe.
