This week I said farewell to one of our CID officers, DC Scott Thompson who is returning to his native Scotland to join Tayside Constabulary as a uniformed constable. I am always disappointed to lose an officer of such quality and wish him well in his new role.
Together with PC Laura Pinson and Marc Khan from Probation Services, I have been visiting Prolific and Priority Offenders (PPOs). This is a co-ordinated campaign to change the behaviour of persistent offenders. Some successes have been made, but it is hugely challenging trying to change the behaviour of people, some of whom are reliant on drugs and alcohol.
The Mayor of Harrow, Councillor Asad Omar went on patrol with PC Tom Stagg from Greenhill Safer Neighbourhoods team yesterday (Monday 6 March) after attending the daily management meeting at South Harrow Police Station. The Mayor and PC Stagg patrolled in the town centre, Harrow Bus Station and St George's Centre, meeting members of the public and learning about the issues facing Greenhill ward and Harrow town centre.
Finally, we have seen a spate of thefts of lead from roofs in recent weeks. If you see anyone behaving suspiciously please call 999, alternatively you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you wish to remain anonymous. See the Harrow Police website for more crime prevention advice
