KEEN reader and local resident Chaz Simpson gave away 48 copies of his favourite book to users of Gayton Library as part of World Book Night.

He also presented a special copy of the book Northern Lights, by Philip Pullman, to the library.

Cllr Rekha Shah, portfolio holder for community and cultural services, said: "It's great to see so many of our residents get involved in celebrating World Book Night.

"I would like to thank our library staff for their hard work in supporting this day and encouraging so many of our residents to get involved in reading. Our libraries are so much more than just a place to borrow books. They are a key part of any vibrant community, loved by young families and our older residents."
