PARENTS of pupils at an infants school have said they have been “left in the dark” over the suspension of its headteacher.

Sue Jones, head of Weald Infants School, in Robin Hood Drive, is being investigated and has been off work since January 25.

It is believed the suspension is related to financial management although Harrow Council and the school's governing body have refused to comment on the situation. Suspension is a neutral act.

A mother, who wished not to be named, whose daughter attends the school, said: “It was a shock to me. I thought she was off ill. We havn’t been told anything about what is happening so we’ll wait and see.

“All we know is she is under investigation.”

The father of one child added: “After the first letter we have been waiting to find out what has happened. We have been left in the dark a little but I’m guessing it’s all part of the investigation process.”

Keith Holroyd, chair of governors at the school confirmed last week that assistant head, Denise Doust, was now leading the school and was being supported by the head teacher of Canon Lane First School, Dr Reena Keeble.
