TRIBUTES have been paid to “humble” Kingsbury teenager Zeeshan Tahir after he died in a head-on smash in Colindale on Wednesday.

The 18-year-old, of Springfield Mont, was killed when the Volkswagen Golf he was travelling in collided with a Renault Megane in Colindeep Lane just before 3pm.

Twisted railings and a damaged tree next to the road show the force of the impact, which happened right outside Farrow House, part of the Met Police’s crime academy.

Flowers, cards and teddy bears have been left on the railings by school friends and teachers, as well as officers and staff from Farrow House.

One man, who said he had been a friend of Zeeshan’s for six years, said: “He was humble, friendly and he meant no harm to anyone, he was a good guy.

“It’s had a big affect on everyone who knew him, everyone’s gutted. I can’t believe it. He shouldn’t have gone in this way.”

One card left by Ahmed Mohamed read: “I lost a good friend. This was so sudden and you will be dearly missed. Rest in peace my Muslim brother.”

Another said: “You will be forever in our hearts and minds. You were such a genuine, lovely boy. Rest in peace.”

Daxa Ruparelia saw the aftermath of the crash as she tried to travel home from work at Sainsbury’s in Colindale, arriving moments after it happened.

She said: “There were a lot of ambulances and police cars and I arrived just as they closed off the road.

“I couldn’t see much, there were two cars in the middle of the road and they looked a mess. One car about 100 yards further up the road had also been hit, but it was on the wrong side of the road from the way the car was travelling.

“It’s terribly sad. There are some dangerous corners on this road, but generally it’s quite safe.”

Three teenagers travelling in the same car as Zeeshan were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and have been released on police bail until June pending further inquiries.
