A HARROW town centre bomb scare was sparked by a package found in the Job Centre Plus, workers say.
A 200 metre cordon has been set up in College Road and Clarendon Road around Queens House, where the package was found at lunch time today.
Nearby Kings House has also been evacuated, Harrow Bus Station has been closed and police sirens still sporadically echo loudly through the streets around the St George's and St Ann's Centres.
Employees inside Queens House say fire alarms rung out across the building after a box was found earlier today.
Ickenham resident Julie Moss, from the skills training department of the Job Centre, said: “We thought it was just a drill like we had last week.
“No one was moving and then all of a sudden security was telling us to get out. Apparently it was a lunch box with straps around it. It must have looked really suspicious.
“I'm not stressed or anxious about it at all. You've got to be cautious but it's been evacuated. We've just got to wait here now.”
