SCHOOL pupils told corny jokes and wore red noses to raise more than £500 for Comic Relief on Friday.
Heathland School, in Eastcote Lane, got into the spirit of the day of giving, with some pupils painting their noses red and other sharing a red food picnic.
Chris Spruce, the school headteacher, said: “Everyone was wearing red, and pupils were bringing in red noses. Me and some of the staff and children were telling awful and corny jokes in assembly.
“Lot's of children in the school made pom poms and turned them into monsters.
“Children in this school like to make a difference if they can and they like Red Nose Day.”
Some of the £565 raised will go to the effort to aid the recovery of Japan, hit by an earthquake and Tsunami.
Mr Spruce said: “The pupils were very moved by the events in Japan. I used to live and teach in Japan and speak Japanese. I did a big assembly and we've been looking at some of the less disturbing photos.”
