POLICE believe a group of men who assaulted a taxi driver in a racially motivated attack after a night out in St Albans may be from Edgware.
The group got into the taxi after a night out in the Hertfordshire town in the early hours of Sunday, March 13, asking to be taken to Edgware.
However, part of the way through the trip they started becoming racially abusive towards the driver, who decided to take them back to St Albans because of their behaviour.
He stopped to turn around in Park Street village, but at this point two of the men got out of the car, opened his door and attacked him, before running off towards the railway station there.
Officers have now released CCTV stills of the group of men they want to speak to outside a nightclub shortly before the incident.
Detective Constable Robert Sheldon, investigating, said: “We are really keen to speak to the men in the footage or for anyone who recognises him to get in touch.
“We would also ask if anyone knows anything about the incident to get in touch.”
Anyone with information can call DC Sheldon on 0845 33 00 222, citing crime reference number F3/11/474, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
