A MARCH against government cuts could be the biggest in British history, a unions says.
Protesters will flock to London from across the country on Saturday for the March for the Alternative, starting at 11am on the Victoria Embankment before a rally at Hyde Park from 1.30pm.
Nick Grant, of the National Union of Teachers (NUT), who is representing unions opposing academy plans by seven schools in Harrow, said: “It's going to be an absolutely huge event.
“The TUC is expecting potentially the biggest mass protest that's ever happened on this islands.
“You may be aware that the record is currently held by the Iraq war protest of February 15, 2003, when estimates went between one and two million people on the streets.
“There are already more coaches and trains booked from various parts of the country than we knew about at that event.”
He said there would also be a large contingent of demonstrators from London with all the unions represented and staff from schools in Harrow taking part.
He said: “It's safe to say that every union that has members in the Harrow area will be mobilising its members to go out on March 26.”
