As one of the council’s “neighbourhood champions” I have to write to praise the contractors for their second attempt at making good the holes etc in Athol Gardens and half of Lyndhurst Gardens that have been left for two to three years.
I called the council after the first attempt which only saw a third of them being done. The council told me to contact the contractors. They said they can only do what’s marked and the holes have got to be more than 40mm (one-and-a-half inches) deep.
So I went round both roads with a straight edge rule and found the holes were 50 to 60mm deep.
I then had to report in detail to the contractors, who reported back to the council. Out came the road marker again and resurfacing work was done for a second time but only in half of Lyndhurst Gardens.
I then asked the contractors why and the answer was that they can only do what’s marked. This road goes up a steep hill, perhaps the worker was too tired to walk up there and mark them.
Therefore, if you want something done, just keep complaining and hope for the best.
