PINNER residents will be celebrating the Royal Wedding with their families and friends at a Picnic in the Park during the afternoon of the Royal couple’s big day.
Pinner Memorial Park on West End Lane in Pinner near Harrow, will host the picnic on Friday, April 29, the day Prince William and Kate Middleton are to marry.
The Pinner Association aims to conserve and enhance the quality of life in Pinner and its committee has arranged entertainment for picnickers from the Ian Brameld six-piece Dixieland jazz band who will play by the West House from 2pm to 5pm on the day.
Pinner Association Committee member Cynthia Wells said: “Anyone who wants to celebrate the Royal Wedding can join in with the Picnic in the Park.”
Cynthia thinks the turnout will be affected by the conditions and said: “It will depend on the weather, on a nice day we could get a few hundred people.”
Those wishing to attend are asked to bring their own picnics and blankets to the event.
Nearby roads have said that they will be joining the celebrations by holding their ‘street parties’ in the park.
Pinner residents have in recent years commemorated the 50th anniversary of the end of WW11, the millennium, the Queen’s Golden Jubilee and 80th birthday party with street parties and parades.
