YOUNG people who would like to learn a creative trade can attend an open day for an opportunity to work as a trainee alongside professionals.
This professionals are from the world of fashion, design, photography, television and music and will work alongside a trainee teaching them the tricks of their trade in return for free rent for the next five months.
As part of the project, set up by Brent Council and South Kilburn Neighbourhood Trust (SKNT), a disused building on the South Kilburn Estate has been transformed into a studio with space for 13 small creative businesses.
The studio, which was launched this month, is one of four art projects commissioned by the council and SKNT.
Industry professionals such as Victoria Grant, creator of couture hats, and music producer Benjamin Stefanski, are some of the people involved in the project.
The council's regeneration officer Alex Hearn, said: "We are pleased that such an exciting project is taking place in Brent. We believe that South Kilburn Studios will ignite interest in South Kilburn and deliver new types of services to the local community.
"We see creative meanwhile projects such as South Kilburn Studios as a fundamental part of our regeneration strategy for the borough."
Anyone aged between 18 and 25, living in Brent can apply to become a trainee working in the studio two afternoons a week for the next five months.
The open day will be held next Thursday (April 28) between 5 and 7pm at the South Kilburn Studios. The first workshop will be held May 4.
