A BRASS band recruiting new members performed at venues in a tour of Belgium last month.

Grimsdyke Brass, who celebrated their 30th anniversary last year, visited Ypres and Bruges.

It is looking for new members for the group based at Zoom Leisure, in Harrow View, Harrow.

Secretary Lisa Stonham said about the trip to Bruges: “A very appreciative audience gathered to listen to the band.

"However, the James Bond theme tune proved too much for one of the horses that was trotting past, taking a group of tourists around the town.

“After rearing up on its hind legs and moving towards the tuba section, the driver managed to get the horse back down and under control, and the conductor could breathe a sigh of relief knowing that the band was still all in one piece.

“The band has a busy schedule of concerts in and around Harrow and also further afield, playing a mix of formal concerts, outdoor bandstand performances and get booked by charities for fundraising events.

“We are recruiting for some new members at the moment.”

The band will be playing on the Parliament Hill bandstand on June 5, with a summer concert at Harrow Arts Centre on June 19 and Pinner Memorial Park on August 14.

They rehearse at Zoom Leisure on a Tuesday night and further information can be found on the website www.grimsdykebrass.co.uk
