A HARROW doctor is one of six people facing a possible mammoth ten week trial on allegations of fraud estimated to total around £4m.
The accusations against Dr Laurence Martin Adler, 58, a GP at Belmont Health Centre, involve “after the event” insurance claims relating to personal injury accidents.
The Radlett resident, of Cristchurch Crescent, one of four doctors at the clinic, appeared at Southwark Crown Court yesterday alongside Dr Vikas Kapoor and four other defendants, including a solicitor and insurance workers.
Officers say several more arrests could be on the way as part of an ongoing joint investigation by City of London Police, the Insurance Fraud Bureau (IFB), the General Medical Council (GMC) and the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
Dr Adler was charged on September 22, alongside insurance broker Frank Harold, 35, of Dyfid, Wales, and husband and wife Brian Lewis Barso, 40, a solicitor, of Liverpool, and Natalie Barso, 39, of Valley Road, Welwyn Garden City.
Dr Kapoor, 36, of Marlow Road, High Wycombe, and Kevin Underwood, 34, of Leveret Close, Watford, were charged at the end of October.
A trial date was set for April 10 next year.
