AN EASTER service was held to celebrate a church’s community links with Tamil Christians in the Harrow area.

The Friends for Christ group, made up of members of the Tamil community, has been using Harrow Baptist Church, in College Road, as a base for the past year-and-a-half.

A joint service was held on Sunday between the two church groups to celebrate Easter.

Reverend Bob Gardiner, the minister of Harrow Baptist Church and John Sumitra of the Tamil Church both gave sermons.

Rev Gardiner said: “In a special service to mark the significance of Easter Day we came together on Sunday afternoon to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus.

“There were worship songs and Bible readings in both English and Tamil, and the Tamil children’s and young people’s groups performed musical items.

“Both ministers then shared Holy Communion with the congregation. After the service the two churches shared food from both cultures in a celebration tea.

“It is hoped that further joint services will be held in future.”
