A ROYAL enthusiast from Wembley held a pre-party yesterday afternoon before the televised nuptials of the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton on Friday.
Margaret Tyler, 67, has more than 10,000 royal relics from plates, cups and framed pictures to life-sized cut-outs.
Ms Tyler started collecting more than 30 years ago, with a glass dish of the Queen from a jumble sale, and her collection has extended into a second room dedicated to Princess Diana.
She has received attention from the world’s press and public in the run-up to the occasion.
She said: “This is a little tea party for residents in the area to get them in the mood for the occasion.
“The whole world wants to know about the royals now and I am glad to help out and provide them with information.
“I have had television crews here from Japanese stations and everybody is really interested in every single detail of the wedding.
“I have had interest before in my collection from when Charles and Camilla got married but then there were maybe four or five crews visiting then and then now there are six or seven visits a day. I’m being kept very busy.”
Ms Tyler will be reporting for American television channel TLC (The Learning Channel) on the actual day from her home.
She added: “I have two phones and no doubt I will have one in one ear and the one in the other.
“I’ve always been interested in the royal family especially as a little girl as my parents were royalists.
“I remember Charles and Diana getting engaged and the wedding and how exciting it all was.
“I wish the couple all the luck in the world and a long and happy union. Boys need a woman in their life and he’s got a good one there.
“It’s going to be so flat when it’s over but there will be newspapers and magazines who will create supplements and then they will start their lives together as a married couple, which I’m sure will be followed just as much as the wedding.”
