SCHOOLCHILDREN have created a montage of monarchs in honour of the Royal Wedding.
Over 200 pupils produced individual pictures of a British King or Queen as part of a competition launched by The Broadwalk Centre in Edgware.
Marketing Manager of the centre, Dina Mistry, said: “We wanted to run an event to commemorate the royal wedding, and as a local shopping centre we wanted to ensure the local community were directly involved in our celebrations of this momentous event."
The pictures are made from recycled materials including pieces of old fabric, ribbon, buttons and sequins.
They will be unveiled at the centre by a Henry VIII look-alike on Friday April 29 at 2.30pm during a royal wedding street party.
The centre’s management team and artist Charmain French has chosen 11-year-old Anushan Rathimohan’s illustration of Queen Elizabeth II as the winning piece.
Anushan attends Stag Lane Primary School in Collier Drive, Edgware and received £25 from The Broadwalk Centre.
The winning school chosen for “best overall artwork” was Cannon Lane Middle School in Cannonbury Avenue, Pinner which received a cheque for £100.
Ms Mistry, said: “This project allowed schoolchildren to display their creative skill and be part of a truly unique piece of artwork that can be enjoyed by all of our shoppers.”
The street party will offer entertainment including Punch and Judy shows and a treasure hunt from 11.30pm tomorrow.
