JELLY eating contests, fancy dress and water balloons helped residents of a road in Harrow celebrate the Royal Wedding on Friday.
Phillipa Matthews organised a street party in Wellesley Road, Harrow Town Centre, where there was bunting and an egg and spoon race between children and adults.
The youngsters stole the glory as their grown up counterparts had to hold the spoon in their mouths, rather than hands.
Mrs Matthews said: “It went really well. It was a really good laugh. We had a good turnout and everybody enjoyed themselves.
“We played lots of games for the kids and games for the adults. It was a good day. The kids loved the fact they were beating the adults.”
Preparations began just after 9am, and by 10am the road was closed off, with residents going inside just before 11am to watch Prince William and Kate Middleton tie the knot.
The couple kissed twice as they celebrated their love during a star-studded ceremony at Westminster Abbey.
The occasion was celebrated in streets across the borough, as well as in Pinner Memorial Park, West End Lane, Pinner.
