A REMORSELESS robber who attacked an Asian couple stealing a woman's gold pendant was a “menace to society”, an officer says.
Dario Critchlow, 19, of Harlesden, was one of three youths who between them struck a 63-year-old man across the head and wrestled his 59-year-old wife to the ground in High Street, Wealdstone, in December, 2009.
He can be seen grinning in his custody image and officers say he showed no remorse for the attack, which left the two victims traumatised.
PC Ali Khan, the investigating officer, said: “In all his previous customs photos he's pulling a face like that. He showed no remorse during the trial, he didn't seem to care. He's just a menace to society.
“He's done this sort of thing previously and the judge sentenced him to a considerable amount of time.”
Police are warning Harrow's Asian community they could be targeted by robbers looking for gold jewellery following Critchlow's sentencing alongside a 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, at Harrow Crown Court on Thursday.
PC Khan said: “The people being targeted are basically Asian and the suspects know that most of the time they wear jewelery on their fingers or round their wrists or round their necks.
“People need to speak to their community and make them aware of this issue.
“There's still ongoing issues with these robberies and snatches in Harrow.”
