OCTOBER 17 to 21 is NATIONAL FRAUD PREVENTION WEEK.This is aimed at raising awareness among vulnerable groups especially the STUDENT population or individuals in a similar position.This is about preventing ID being stolen as this can have long-term consequences for the victims ,adversely affecting their credit when they may wish to buy or rent homes or apply for credit cards or loans.

OPERATION STERLING is addressing these issues by attending Fresher's Fair and working in conjunction with many Safer Neighbourhood Teams at a number of Universities throughout London such as Imperial College and Queen Mary's.Students come to London not just from the UK but worldwide so its very important they are alerted about this damaging crime.
Officers from Operation Sterling have arranged a special one day conference at CITY HALL MARYLEBONE on WEDNESDAY,OCTOBER 19,with presentations about preventing this crime from a number of informed sources, such as Safer Neighbourhood Teams based in Universities and National Union of Students representatives.

After many months of consultation the MPA have decided to retain "STOP & ACCOUNT" in London,in accordance with the wishes of many Londoners who took part in several sessions gathering their views.Many Constabularies around the UK voted to get rid of this but Londoners felt strongly that it would be wiser to retain information about these Stops so that we could ensure fair play and address isues around disproportionality.
