A LABOUR candidate has won the by-election seat for Wembley Central, it was confirmed this morning.
Four candidates were declared after Labour councillor Jayesh Mistry left the seat last month due to personal reasons.
Krupa Sheth, from St Michael’s Avenue, Wembley, was elected with 1402 votes with a 28 per cent turnout of voters who took to the polls yesterday.
The seat was previously held by former Liberal Democrat councillor Vijay Shah, who was jailed for a year for embezzlement and booted out of the party in 2009.
He was succeeded by Liberal Democrat Afifa Pervez who stood for the ward again this time and got 1022 votes.
Conservative Madhuri Davda, from Pasture Close, Wembley, trailed behind with 349 votes Labour and Green candidate Martin Francis, from Saltcroft Close, Wembley, received 130 votes.
